CMS-Logic - Adding the same page multiple places behavior change

March 10, 2010

We recently included and update with a slight behavior change within CMS-Logic navigation trees. In the past, a user could add an existing page to any navigation tree any number of times. This is still true, however adding a page mutliple times will now create a "link" to the original page rather than a unique url to the same page. Whenever a url is changed on the page, the links will automatically adjust.

Any links to pages will appear with this icon:

This can be explained with an example:

Steve creates a page titled "About our Company" and adds it to his "Main Navigation". He creates this page with a url of "http://www.example.com/about-our-company/". Steve now wants to add this page to his "Footer Navigation" so people can easily find it. From his footer navigation admin, he finds the "About our Company" page in the list to his right. When he clicks on this page and adds it to his navigation, cms-logic will create a link to the original page. Previously, the system would change the URL to make it unique, to something like "http://www.example.com/about-our-company-29/". If Steve was to change the URL of his original page to "/about-our-great-company/", the system will find any links to that page (like the one on the footer navigation) and change the URL.
